Over the years, learning institutions have discouraged their students from engaging in plagiarism because of its inability to acknowledge other people’s work. While plagiarism conflicts the objectives of learning, it promotes laziness among the students, an aspect that fails to demonstrate the advantages of being in school.
However, there are incidents addressed in the article where students plagiarize without the intention of breaking the standard rules of learning (Pecorari, 2003). While the real similarity in a student’s work can be easily defined as plagiarism, instructors should pursue the intentions before making any decision that can affect the learner’s ability to realize their career objectives.
