Effective Leadership Skills
In recent times, most countries globally have been experiencing difficulties in most economic sectors as a result of COVID-19. During the pandemic, effective leadership is vital as it encourages responsibility among workers, guides, and influences the best behavior and output of others while improving their ability to respond to arising issues. A recent study conducted indicates that the disease’s fatality risk stands at 1%, more severe than influenza, which was recorded at 0.6% (Gates, 2020). Effective measures have been taken all around the world to ensure that the disease does not spread.
Communication skills are crucial during the pandemic. In such an era, leaders should be able to communicate clearly and concisely, expressing the fundamental concerns of the public. Being open and honest ensures that the audience grasps the information effectively. There will be a need to make rapid responses to the public in efforts to put in place different measures and procedures to curb Covid-19. Emotional intelligence is crucial as it entails being in control and being aware of people’s emotions. Being a sensitive time, listening, and embracing other ideas boosts the task force and motivates getting solutions to problems during this pandemic.
A morally upright leader will ensure that the concerns of the public are heard and acted upon within the expected duration. A just leader will uphold the dignity and human rights of the people by ensuring medical aids are easily accessible as they are necessary for treating and prevention of Covid-19, and ensuring practices associated with panic such as hoarding and overpricing of products are eliminates. During the COVID-19 period, creative minds among leaders will enhance the formulation of quick solutions to problems aimed at fighting Covid-19 by utilizing ideas from other people. Creativity will also bring new ideas and solutions.
