The actors, filmmaker and other collaborating artists intended to reveal that each individual disguises his or her own identity. Generally, a mask connotes disguises of one’s identity. Individuals possibly conceal their true self due to the fear of rejection when one’s true self is revealed or failure of matching up to societal expectations. The film depicts each individual wearing a mask, and demonstrates that individuals constantly modify themselves to align with particular groups and circumstances (“Identity – Short Film – Award Winning Inspirational Short”). It also addresses the theme of lack of individuality.

The main actress demonstrates good observational skills as she is able to identify what others cannot. She identifies that each individual is putting on a mask. This causes her to analyze herself before deciding to transform herself. Sound effects that are utilized in the opening line emphasize the intensity of the intended subject matter. Camera work and dramatic music that plays while the main actress is looking at the mirror represents her disturbed nature prior to her decision to reveal her true self.
