Angelica Kauffman was a Swiss painter born in 1741 in Chur, Switzerland, and died in 1807 in Rome, Italy. She spent most of her childhood in the Swiss region. Angelica was a canvas painter, where throughout her career, she maintained the production of self-portraits and did portraits of notable figures (Walch, 1977). Angelica contributed to the neoclassical art movement, where she is renowned for her exceptional paintings. She used the paintings to speak about various issues, more so those regarding the power of women.
One of the famous artworks by Angelica is the Self Portrait Aged Thirteen (1753). This was an exquisite self-portrait that showed that she was as equally talented in painting as in Music. The artwork depicted women’s power in this particular movement, where Angelica proves her abilities and shows that she is interested in self-investigation and discovery. Angelica faced major allegations that she had a romantic liaison with famous male artists. As a result, there was an outcry, leading to some of her paintings getting rejected by the Royal academy. The artist was innovative, given that despite her being a woman in a male-dominated society, she was able to showcase her prowess and come up with paintings that portray women’s role in society.

Henry Fuseli was born in 1741 and died in April 1825. Henry was born in Switzerland But spent most of his time in Britain were made art pieces. Most of his artworks were Paintings, but he also was a draughtsman and a writer. The artist mainly contributed to the Romanticism movement, where he had significant great ices that are famous up to date. One of the painter’s most outstanding works is “The Nightmare”, a 1781 oil-based painting, which showed a woman in a deep sleep with her arms below her (STOKER’S & RICH, 2018). The realistic painting is an example of many romanticism artworks, where it has a hidden meaning and symbolism, which makes it one of the most renowned art pieces of the movement. Due to his attacks on Corruption, Fuseli was forced to leave Zurich in 1763. This was the year where the seven-year war came to an end where Hubertus burg and Paris signed a treaty. The artist was innovative in that he developed artworks with hidden meanings and symbolism, where most of his pieces always brought controversy and debate about their intentions.

The artist was born in May 1844 and died in June 1926. She was born in America but lived much of her adult life in France, where she did most of her work. Mary was a painter but also was a printmaker. She mainly contributed to the impressionism art movement, which is a part of modern art (Rosin, 2019). One of her most famous artworks is the “child Birth, “which was an 1893 oil painting. It characterizes the impressionism movement by using distinct angles of precisions. Mary became sick in around 1911, where she had Diabetes, Neuralgia, and rheumatism, where she stopped painting in 1914 after she became blind. This was during the period of the Mexican Revolution. Cassatt showed great prowess in drawing and making asymmetrical compositions, getting familiar with artists at this period.

The artist was born in 1867 and died in 1947. The artist was born in France, and he grew up in Paris, where he executed most of his art pieces. He is renowned for his paintings and also the bold use of color in his pieces. He contributed to the most impressionism art movement (Chamberlain & Pepperell, 2020). One of his most famous artworks is the Terrasse à Vernon, an impressive piece by the artist showing Ma Roulette’s view. It depicts the issue of color and incredible landscape. A major challenge he faced was his parents’ disapproval, where they did not view art as a career choice. During this period of such a challenge, “the Schoolhouse Blizzard” saw the death of many people, primarily children in Texas. The painter was innovative where he could bridge between impressionism and abstractionism.

This is a famous painter who was born in 1880 and died in 1916. He was born in Germany, where he spent most of his life developing pieces. His medium of art was painting, but he was also a famous printmaker. He majorly contributed to the Expressionism art movement. One of the most famous expressionism pieces is “The yellow Cow,” which characterizes expressionism (ISHII, 2018). A significant challenge faced by the artist was severe depression from 1904 to 1907. At this moment in the world, there was the massive Russo-Japanese War. The artist was known for his unique painting style, where he had a creative power in depicting every day in his work.

Severin was born in 1883 and passed on in 1966. He was born in Italy but divided his time between Paris and Rome, Italy, where he created most of his works. He was primarily a painter. The art movement that the artist mainly contributed to was cubism and futurism. One of his significant artworks is the Boulevard. He uses shapes and colors to develop a cubism art piece, which characterizes the cubism movement, where the artist employed this style for demonstrative purposes (Severini, 1995). Gino’s primary challenge was struggling to improve his social life, where he also struggled to make ends meet. In this period, particularly in 1907 was when British suffragettes attacked the Parliament building in London. His exemplary use of cubism was one of the most innovative methods used by the painter and ranked in the same levels as Pablo Picasso.

Ernst was born in 1891 in Germany and died in 1976. He created a majority of his works in both Germany and France. The medium of art that the artist used was painting, and a sculptor, graphic artist. He significantly contributed to the Surrealism art movement, but also contributed to Dada and expressionism (Camfield, 1993). One of his most famous paintings is “The Elephant Celebes,” a masterpiece of surrealist painting. A significant challenge was his service at the First world war, where he was a soldier. It was at this time where there was the Russian revolution. Ernst was a prolific and tireless innovative artist, driven to dirty artistic conventions , where he desired to explore creativity and his subconsciousness.

Joan Mitchell was born in 1925 and died in 1992. Much of her career took art in France, despite her being an American. She was a second-generation abstract painter, where she also doubled up as a printmaker. The art movement which she mainly contributed to was abstract expressionism and pop art (Livingston, Mitchell, Nochlin, & Lee, 22002). One of her famous art pieces is the Tree, which was created in 1991, where; it is an abstract artwork of trees. Some of the artist’s challenges include Lung cancer between 1990 and 1991, where she then passed on. A historical happening at this period was The Gulf War is waged in the Middle East in 1991. Joan was very innovative in developing state-of-the-art abstract artworks which always had deep symbolic meanings.

The famous painter was born in 1931 in Missouri, United States, and died in 2018 in New York City. He was entirely based in the US. His medium of art sculpting, where he also was a conceptual artist and writer. His art movement is minimalism and post-minimalism (Carroll, 2008). One of his most famous works include “Steam Work for Bellingham-II”, a minimalistic sculpture installed at Western Washington University. One of the artist’s significant challenges was constant criticism of the way he developed his artworks. This period was when pop culture was taking flight. The artist thought outside the box when developing unique pieces, where none of its works had ever been previously designed or developed before.

David Salle is a contemporary artist who was born in 1952 in Oklahoma in the United States. He is based in the Us, where he creates most of his works. The artist’s art movement contributes to the post-modernism and deconstructive movement seen in a minority of his artworks. His medium of art includes painting, printmaking m, photography, and stage designing (Salle, 2015). One of the famous works is “Sextant in Dogtown”, which reflects what post-modern art looks like. The challenges faced by the artists include problems associated with the internet, such as stolen concepts or the use of images and publications without authorization. Post-modernism art is currently happening where many artists are into visual and digital art. Salle has been able to edetate the market and showcases his artworks due to his innovative concepts and ideas.
