Primary sources are accounts of events that were made when the actual event was taking place. These sources can also be created by an individual who witnessed the events at a later date. They are usually original and do not describe or give an analysis of other documents. Also, they can be a result of creative efforts from people. Secondary sources are made as a result of analyzing available information from primary sources or events which occurred earlier. The analysis is usually done by academicians or observers. These secondary sources are said to be at least one step away from primary sources as they add a layer of interpretation from the analysis done. However, it is essential to note that though interpretation is different, they cover the same topic.

The drawing is referred to as creative as it is not likely that two persons would draw the same image. It took the mind of one person to create that drawing thus there is no doubt that it is a primary source of information. Photographs are a primary source of information. The article review is a secondary source as the writer did not experience nor participated in the events presented in the article.
