In Psycho (1960), Alfred Hitchcock presents the viewer with an exciting perspective where they can understand based on the interactions of the lead female character and the psycho. In the film’s subjective editing process, the director exposes the viewer to an environment where they can develop a love-hate relationship for the protagonist because of their mistakes that reveal them to the film’s central tragedy. The twists and turns in the movie create the much-needed suspense in psychological horror and thriller films. Hence, Hitchcock’s ability to create the feeling of guilt in Norman’s character introduces the viewer to an interesting perspective that influences their thought process and ability to overcome different issues that enhance their understanding of the film.

Acousmatic sound in the shot where Norman stabs Marion complements the scene’s objective and sets the stage for the next line of action.

Hitchcock’s progressiveness enables him to create the feeling of guilt in Norman’s character introduces the viewer to an interesting perspective that influences their thought process and ability to overcome different issues that enhance their understanding of the film. Notably, the film towards the end indicates that Norman killed Marion ten years ago and is living under his mother’s impression, with whom he uses to commit the deadly acts of crime that saw two young girls succumb to his actions. With the help of a psychiatrist, the viewers understand Norman’s guilt, which cultivates the suspense in the film because of the time-lapse, which allows him to execute the crimes.
