Two of the critical infrastructure sectors are the food and agriculture sector and the transportation systems sector. In the food and agriculture sector a major likely challenge is the problem of increased GMO products released to the market. This is a major problem for the consumers of the products since some of the foods may be unhealthy to their bodies, leading to the development of various chronic illnesses (FAO, 2017). This is a problem that ought to be addressed in the near term to encourage more consumption of organic foods that are healthy to the consumers. In the United States, there is a growing number of people suffering from obesity and other health-related diseases due to such foods (FAO, 2017). Many are hence encouraged to opt for organic foods that promote their health and overall wellbeing. Therefore, the government and other associated stakeholders need to come together and develop policies that will help in more growth and production of organic foods to help the citizens live a better and healthier life in the future.
In the transportation systems sector, the major problem that needs to be addressed is pollution. There has been a huge growth in the number of vehicles and other machinery on the roads, meaning that there are rampant pollution cases, more so air pollution due to increase in emissions (Rodrigue, 2021). As a result of the pollution, there is a need for a sustainable solution that will help in minimizing the possibilities of extensive pollution by ensuring that lesser gases are produced and that the issue of air pollution caused by carbon monoxide emissions is minimized. This will greatly aid in providing a better and more sustainable environment, and also ensure that climate change challenges associated with the transportation system sector are addressed.
