Human Experience Across the Health-Illness Continuum and its Relevance to Patient Care

The health-illness continuum demonstrates the emotional and mental wellbeing of individuals when exposed to different situations. Health practitioners use this concept to examine the overall wellbeing of patients during the presence or absence of illness. In this regard, the health-illness continuum enables medical practitioners to make informed decisions that enhance the world’s outcomes today. The Health-illness continuum educates the public about the risk factors that affect their overall wellbeing and exposes them to the best approaches to overcome the issues after identifying the symptoms.

The Importance of the Health-Illness Continuum

When examining individuals’ health status, medical practitioners may fail to identify the common symptoms associated with perceived illnesses. However, patients may be unhappy, depressed, and anxious because of the influence on their general wellbeing on their perspectives towards life. In this case, the health-illness continuum comes in handy to examine the health status of patients by subjecting them to a spectrum that evaluates the wellbeing of individuals (Dean 2016). Notably, the concept tests individuals’ awareness of the perceived medical conditions and proposes the approaches used after positive detections. In the same vein, the medical philosophy enables patients to benefit from early detections, which provide viable remedies to the issues affecting their quality of life. From this realization, health-illness continuum plays a vital role in balancing people’s expectations and exposes them to an enabling environment to learn more about their health status.

When the health-illness continuum is used in the modern health environment, it creates a healthy relationship between patients and medical professionals because of the nature of information exchanged during the interactions. In this regard, the concept improves the quality of care provided to patients due to the ability of health professionals to make informed decisions based on the examinations conducted on the patient’s overall wellbeing (Kishan, 2020). Likewise, the process responds directly to patients’ emotional and mental development who can easily be affected by the nature of outcomes retrieved from the medical tests. From this perspective, the health-illness continuum encourages patients in their recovery phase by empowering them with factual information that enhances their understanding of the causes of the medical condition affecting their way of life.

My Reflection on Health and Illness

Despite my ability to maintain the recommended fitness levels, there are moments I felt like giving up. Working out regularly takes a toll on the body and distracts individuals from the exercises, especially when the results take longer to manifest. However, I have a healthy support system that encourages me every day to work out and accomplish the designated goals. In the same vein, my family and close friends are my accountability partners. They always question my path to achieving healthy fitness because of the issues that hinder individuals from accomplishing their desired goals and objectives. Notably, I monitor the food I consume because of its impact on my fitness journey (Kongsuwan, Khaw, Chaiweeradet, & Locsin, 2019). Even though I have a few “cheat days” where I consume junk food products, I ensure that I do not lose focus from accomplishing the goal. With the knowledge gained from this exercise, I am keen on acquiring various insights to enhance my relationship with patients and other people in the health context. I intend to utilize the information gained from this institution to inspire the world. I am confident of my skills and ability to become an excellent nursing professional because of the nature of conversations I will have with patients and individuals within their close circles. Thus, I will replicate the health-illness continuum in the world today to encourage individuals to accomplish their career goals and focus on achieving their expected results.

Available Options and Resources to Improve Wellness

Since I can utilize the internet to draw different insights taught in the new online class sessions, I will incorporate various teachings from the program to influence individuals’ thought processes. From this realization, I will recognize the ethical issues that may affect medical professionals from administering quality care to other individuals in the workplace (Ow & Poon, 2020). I will infuse diet and High-Intensive Internal Training (HIIT) in my recommended work out partners to accomplish the expected goals and outcomes. I am confident in my ability to turn around the organization’s performance and introduce new members who can motivate other people to overcome the condition.

Conclusion

Given the ability of health care providers to evaluate individuals’ wellness, it becomes easier for them to develop viable medical solutions that enhance people’s quality of life. The Health-illness continuum educates the public about the risk factors that affect their overall wellbeing and exposes them to the best approaches they can use to overcome the issues after identifying the symptoms. Extending quality care to patients will be facilitated by the corporation’s ability to embrace the health-illness continuum to identify any underlying problems and solve them using modern innovations.
