These ethical obligations comprise not harming, doing the best possible, being authentic to rational prospects, being a patient advocate, telling the truth, and giving each individual a fair share. The medical assistant would need to abide by proficient ethics and acknowledge that professional ethics surpass personal integrity and ethics. As a medical assistant, it is crucial to constantly partake in the right thing at the workstation, mainly linked to providers, financiers, and patients.
Patients should trust that their doctors will be truthful with them and make treatment references that include recommendations founded on medical need, skills of other health care practitioners or amenities to whom the patient is directed, and the superiority of products or services offered. In this case, disbursement by or to a doctor or health care facility solely for a patient’s recommendation is fee-splitting and unprincipled. Therefore, I would battle the temptation to provide codes that are only inferred or not recognized by medical requirements. Moreover, I would not unbundle systems for the sake of extra repayment and not choose a routine code that may resemble the actual service executed. Suppose I noticed that claims are not being presented appropriately, and no aspect in the documents clarifies the reasons for the delay. In that case, it is essential to report to the concerned authorities. To uphold my honesty and the esteem of my managers and colleagues, I believe in being a team player. I remain dedicated to the bottom line: income for my provider or clientele.
