Topic: Computer Networking
Specific Aim: Informing the audience on computer networking, types of computer networks and suitability of each network mechanism
Thesis Statement: Computer networks consist of five types of protocols. They include Local Area Network (LAN), Metropolitan Area Network (LAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN).
Introduction
The first point will comprise of a discussion about Local Area Networks and its viability.
The second point will be on the Metropolitan Area Network and its viability.
The third point will examine a wireless Area network and its suitability.
Restating thesis statement: Computer networks consist of five types of protocols. They include Local Area Network (LAN), Metropolitan Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).
A local area network is referred to as a computer protocol that enables people from a specific region to exchange information and share hardware and software components. There are two specific types of local area networks. They include WIFI and Ethernet.
A local area network offers a wide variety of advantages for companies, such as offering a cost-effective method of linking nodes compared to linking terminals to a mainframe node. LANs are commonly used in small enterprises such as accounting and information management.
The next point elaborates on a Metropolitan Area Network. This refers to a network that links various nodes in a topographical region, more extensive than an area covered by a local area network.
It is virtually comprised of several local area networks. The critical advantage attributed to the Metropolitan Area Network is the potential speed of the interconnecting links. Examples of metropolitan area networks can be in major cities such as London, Poland, Geneva, and Switzerland.
A Wide Area network entails the connection of nodes at various locations, a telecommunication media such as a phone line, and a satellite. They are similar to the Wired LAN and WAN, apart from radio frequency signals in the transmission of data.
There are several forms of WANs. For iintranets, virtual private networks, and extranets. The coverage of a Wide Area Network spans several nations.
Summary
Networks may be considered a simple point to point link between two nodes during the transfer of files. Networks may also be considered to be intricate. For instance, considering the Federal Reserve System, which authorizes the electronic transfer of money. Therefore, it is crucial to have an in-depth understanding of the computer networks, the functionality, and suitability.
