Cinderella by Charles Perrault | Short Story Plot Theme Map Homework

The story’s title is Cinderella. The narrative was published in 1697 by an author known as Charles Perrault. The narrative is also known as Cendrillon in the tales of mother Goose.

The writer’s fundamental message is exhibiting kindness to every individual, forgiveness, determination and affirmative conduct in adversative situations. Generally, the writer articulates on the good and evils and luck in changing an individual’s way of life.

“The pitiable girl bore all tolerantly, and did not dare grumble to her father, who would have reprimanded her if she had done so, for his wife ruled him completely (Kamleitner Thürridl,& Martin, 2019)..” Cinderella failed to report to her father regarding the maltreatment she underwent in her foster mother’s care. By opting to remain silent, Cinderella depicted the subject of perseverance. She chose to receive all the maltreatments instigated towards her by her mother, for instance, undertaking difficult chores in the house.

Rising Action

“Cinderella, would you not be willing to go to the ball?” “Young ladies,” she said, “you only taunt me; it is not for such as I am to go there.” “You are right,” they responded; “people would joke to see a Cinderwench attend a ball.”

The two request Cinderella if she was willing to attend the ball, which is an apparent query but is meant to mock her as she makes their hair.  A conflict arises as Cinderella states that they are just contemptuous since they are aware she may not be allowed to attend the ball.  This correlates to the subject in that Cinderella partakes in good deeds through making their hair. However, it leads to unfavourable situations of not being permitted to attend the ball.

“Go into the garden, and you will find six lizards behind the watering-pot; bring them to me.” The fairy then said to Cinderella, “Well, you see here a carriage fit to go to the ball in; are you not pleased with it?”

Cinderella’s foster mother converted the lizards into six footmen with the attires clipped with Gold and silver. It altered the story’s outcome based on Cinderella being able to attend the ball, knowing she will ultimately win.  This connects to the subject, articulating that Cinderella’s foster mother’s windfall helped her be present at the ball.

Falling Action

“And now her two sisters found her to be that beautiful lady they had seen at the ball. They threw themselves at her feet to beg pardon for all their ill-treatment of her. Cinderella took them up, and, as she embraced them.”

Cinderella’s sisters believe she failed to attend the ball. The siblings make fun as she attempts to fit in the slipper. However, after a short period, the slipper is seen to fit and is engaged to be the wife of the prince’ son. Cinderella’s significance to the subject is understanding. Notwithstanding the siblings’ maltreatment, she pardons them.

Being kind-hearted and beautiful, Cinderella welcomes both sisters in the palace, and both got engaged to two important lords of the Court of law.

Eventually, Cinderella houses both sisters and gets them engaged to two aristocrats of the Law court.  Her deed is related to the subject theme of repaying evil with good deeds. Notwithstanding her sisters’ mistreatment, she repays them with good deeds.
