In the process of completing the project, I learned that Barack Obama as the first African-American person to occupy the highest office of our nation, was openly accepted across the political divide. That is, the historical Republicans and Democrats found a sense of belonging and uniting factor with Obama winning the presidency. The opportunity was mainly viewed as a chance that ushered a new era that would transform American society. This is based on the fact that, after centuries of discrimination and racism towards the African-American population, one of their own rose to the highest position of power. The level of optimism and hope following Obama’s election was all high to all Americans across different demographics. The middle class and the low-income earners were profoundly hopeful of the new government and hoped for better policies.
Also, I learned that Obama lived up to the expectations of the majority. One thing he did extremely the best was in the healthcare sector where he improved service delivery among the citizens. Healthcare is a crucial area that affects thousands of people and directly impacts to other sectors of the economy. The capacity to maintain a healthy populace was a great step toward sustaining the wealth of the nation.
Furthermore, there remains an area in which Obama’s administration would have been done better by improving the involved policy. For instance, immigration mostly affecting the minority communities especially where he came from, would have been suited to ensure the best outcome for all the parties involved. As a charismatic leader, Obama was successful in winning the hearts of the Americans despite the party affiliations and race. Thus, he remains a leader to be admired and profoundly influential in the American politics.
