If someone asks you why it is important to take a course in Argumentation and Debate, what would you tell them?
A course in argumentation and debate is very vital for anyone in that it helps tolearn about how to handleengagements with ideas. Learning to argue represents an essential way of thinking that facilitates conceptual change and is essential in solving problems and conflicts. By learning about how to argue, one is equipped with the necessary skills that enable him/her to be the bigger person in any argument.
If someone asks you why it is important to think critically about the persuasive messages we receive, what would you tell them?
I would tell them that it isvital to think about persuasive messages since their main intention is to convince and persuadethem. Therefore, understanding will help the receiver of the message understand the message’s main message before agreeing to the message. Secondly, when the reader understands what persuasion is, he will be a better consumer.
If your future employer asks you about your effective communication skills, what would you tell them?
I would tell them that effective communication is a vital tool in any environment and setting. Through communication, it is easier to engage with the fellow employees and employers and discuss issues that can help the firm attain its set goals. No organization can exist without communication since it enables the coordination of work. It also helps boost the employees’ morale and ensure that they work within the direction and vision set by the firm.
If a speaker has a completely different worldview, what strategies can you use to build a bridge of communication?
It is always important that oneaccepts other people’s opinions. Havinga differentview is thereforeacceptable for the speaker. However, I would try to convince him to change his waysby stating the countering measures of the opinion. I would also try and state the advantagesand positive points about the issue. I willalso try and show him the negative sides of his stand on the issue to persuade him to change his position.

I have learnedabout the advantages and the need for being a good debater. This is since it is important to possess important tools that can help one win a debate I alsolearned the need to respect other people’s opinions on any issue.
