FINAL DATA AND METADATA DESIGN

Introduction

The final step in the data architecture and design project in a work environment is including all of the additional considerations that go along with data architecture into the design. These include governance of the data and security-related considerations, as well as metadata, or data about the data.

Now that you have analyzed the needs within your selected environment or scenario, and have documented your proposed data architecture, the next step is to add the data governance and security considerations and designs, as well as metadata design. These will be completed and added to the full project as part of this final assignment for the course.

Instructions

Write a 6–8 page paper in which you describe your selected environment or scenario, summarize the results of your needs analysis, summarize the design for the data architecture, and describe the plan for data governance, data security, and the metadata design. Include the following in your paper:

  1. Describe your selected environment or scenario.
  2. Describe the questions and problems that will be addressed with the data.
  3. Summarize the stakeholders involved with collecting, preparing, storing, analyzing, and using or consuming the data.
  4. Summarize all data sources (both existing and new) that will be used to address the questions and problems identified.
  5. Summarize the needs analysis you conducted for the previous assignment.
  6. Summarize your proposed data architecture design, including input data sources, data storage, and outputs (reports, analysis, et cetera).
  7. Include a data architecture design diagram to visually represent your proposed data architecture design for the environment or scenario that you selected.
  8. Describe the considerations and proposed plan for data governance for the data detailed in your data architecture design diagram and summary.
  9. Describe the considerations and proposed plan for security for the data detailed in your data architecture design diagram and summary.
  10. Describe the metadata to be collected and stored on the data identified in your data architecture diagram.
  11. Include a metadata design diagram that details what metadata will be kept for the data identified in your data architecture diagram, how (and how often) it will be updated, and who is responsible for doing so.
