Background.

The modern era has introduced state-of-the-art technologies, informational and otherwise, into every major area of society's economic and cultural life. As is the case with all grand trends and agendas, the public tends to perceive their importance a self-serving basis for finding significant interconnections and overlaps in their implications as well as applications. Until recently, for instance, some of the more interesting implications of general relativity had rested idle until the advent of appropriate computing and visualizing tools that could improve our understanding of the underlying laws and properties immensely. Early exposure of the young people to methods and approaches as employed in research could turn out invaluable, when it comes to augmenting their intuition and enthusiasm about engaging in challenging problem solving. Many important disciplines, notably economics, prove quite simple in their essential core yet take a long time to master, not least due to the cost of building the faculty of abstract and synthesizing reasoning. 

In addition, access to effective online search engines like Google has improved informational search dramatically, thus allowing to spend a smaller proportion of time that increasingly becomes the only truly scarce resource in the new economy.
